Christian Formation/ Small Groups for Adults

We invite you to consider deepening your connection with your peers in this parish and indeed with your own spirituality by participating in one of several small group Christian formation offerings for adults.

Bible Study at St. James the Less

The Bible Study Class is exploring the Book of Acts.  The format will be that of an open discussion, one that encourages participation and inclusiveness of ideas and opinions. Come join in a heartfelt exploration into the meaning and message of this important New Testament Gospel. All adults are welcome to participate.

Location:  Brydon Parish Hall
Time:  9:00 – 9:45 am

Christ in the World Today

The Christ in the World Today class is open to all adults. An engaging small group discussion is an opportunity for Christian fellowship and spiritual growth.  Christ in the World Today is a small group of SJTL parishioners who like to discuss spirituality in their daily lives; we gather on Sundays at 9:00 am in the basement to discuss "Living the Question" and how it touches our own lives.  All are welcome.

OPEN TO ALL ADULTS
Location:  SJTL Basement
Time:  Sunday mornings, 9:00 – 9:45 am

Education for Ministry (EfM)

Every baptized person is called to ministry. The Education for Ministry (EfM) program provides people with the education to carry out that ministry. Developed by the School of Theology at Sewanee, EfM consists of a small group of people who prayerfully read, study and discuss ideas about the Bible, church history, theology and world religions. There is a cost associated with the class, and some scholarships are available. Enrollment will begin in summer 2016 with the first meeting of the group in October at St. James the Less. The group will meet weekly through early June 2017. For more information, contact Stephanie Werner at stephwerner@hotmail.com or (804) 986-2953 or visit http://efm.sewanee.edu.

Location: Alternating between St. James the Less and All Souls’ Episcopal Parish House on Atlee Road
Time: Mondays, 6-8 p.m.

Supper Club or “A Night Out With Friends”

If you’re new to St. James the Less, Supper Club is a great way for you to meet people and to find your place in the church. If you’re already among us, it’s the perfect chance for you to reconnect with friends and to reacquaint yourself with parish life. Supper Club members provide a means for holding monthly dinners  for parishioners and newcomers in a relaxed and enjoyable fellowship gathering.

Members participate by bringing a dish and agreeing to host one or two dinners each year. Individuals in each of the dinner groups are rotated each month so that members have opportunities to meet and get to know other members.

Sign ups for Supper Club for 2015-2016 are posted at Information Central, near the Parish Office.
