NeverTheLess – April 16, 2017

Joyous Easter Greetings!

Welcome to All, especially if you are visiting us today.  We are delighted to have you here. We invite everyone to wear a nametag.  If you don’t have one, please see an usher or a greeter for assistance.  Please join us for an Easter Egg Hunt outside following our 11:00 worship.  We’ll also have coffee and cake in Brydon Hall to celebrate our newly baptized members.

Many Thanks   to all who have helped to bring us to today.  This sacred place is well and joyously served (and often quietly and unsung) by a team of dedicated volunteers, without whom we couldn’t function.  Thank you all.

Tomorrow, Monday, April 17, the church offices will be closed.

Protection for Memorial Garden to be Installed    to protect the sanctity of the Memorial Garden, a handsome wrought-iron gate will be professionally installed on April 17. The vestry approved this solution late last year following reports of dogs loose in the garden, as well as people trespassing after dark through the grounds. A kind and generous donation has paid for this improvement.

Vertical fencing will extend from the brick wall by the outside kitchen entrance, across the pavement to the steps that lead under the church. The gate will be left open during church hours, including Sundays.  The Memorial Garden was established in 1988. Engraved stones and brass plaques mark the eternal presence of more than three dozen beloved parishioners and family members.

A Joy-full Send-off   a Joy-full celebration team is in the works to coordinate a fine send-off for our faithful friend and priest Charles Joy. His last service with us will be May 21.  Following the service, we will enjoy a meal together in Brydon Hall. Please mark your calendars.

A number of opportunities will exist for us to show our appreciation of Charles and his ministry with St. James the Less. A volunteer sign-up sheet is available on the website and is the preferred method for contributing, as several tasks need attention. A sign-up sheet is also available at Information Central. Additionally, a collection is being taken for a purse. Checks may be made payable to St. James the Less with a “Charles Joy” memo.  More information will be forthcoming.

Do You Need Help    getting to church on Sunday?  We would like to make Sunday worship services more accessible to those who may be unable to drive by offering transportation to SJTL. If you are interested in this offering for yourself, a friend or a neighbor, please contact the church office by email or calling 798-6336.

To Reach The Rector   To reach Anna during non-business hours, please call the rectory at (804) 299-3730. If there is no answer, you may also contact Senior Warden Yancey Jones (804) 393-9901 or Junior Warden Rebecca Cline (804) 683-0081, who will contact Anna directly.
