NeverTheLess – December 4, 2016

Welcome to All, especially if you are visiting us today.  We are delighted to have you here.

Stewardship update:   As of Monday, November 28, we had received 79 Pledges for a total of $271,134.00.

LARCUM Conference   St. James the Less, at the invitation of Bp. Ted Gulick, participated yesterday in the LARCUM (that stands for Lutheran, Anglican, Roman Catholic, and United Methodist) Conference.  Many, many thanks to all who helped to make our participation a great and welcoming success for our visitors from across Virginia.

Advent Fair   Thank you to everyone who helped with the Advent Fair.  More than 60 gifts were "shopped" by the kids.  Thanks to our volunteers, Advent wreaths were made, ornaments were created for Christmas trees and Advent Chains were assembled to help children count down the days of Advent towards Christmas!

Christmas Poinsettias   we will again be decorating the altar with poinsettias for the Christmas Eve and Christmas Day services.  If you would like to donate a poinsettia in honor or memory of loved one(s), please contact Margaret in the office.  Suggested minimum donation is $35.

Supper Club   The December edition of Supper Club will be a Potluck, open to all of this year's regular AND substitute participants.  Sunday, December 11, at noon in Brydon Hall.  Bring a dish to share, and "holiday cheer!"

Peter Paul Development Center   PPDC's families were able to enjoy happy Thanksgivings because of the generous donations by SJTL.  Thank you all for your gifts!

PPDC gives their senior citizens Christmas gift bags at their holiday lunch on December 13.  Suggestions for items to fill the bags are:  note pads or note cards; socks (for men and for women); scarves; lotion; tissue packs; individual serving packets of coffee or hot chocolate; individually wrapped low-sugar, low-carb snacks; especially for the senior men, razors and shaving cream.

There is a box for PPDC in the hallway at Information Central.

High School Youth Group Mission – Tri-cities Workcamp   The Tri-Cities Workcamp 2017 info has arrived!  There is no more waiting until Jan 2nd to register, we can register starting now!  Keeping with tradition, SJTL High Schoolers attend the JULY 16 – 22 (2nd week) of camp.  This is a FULL week commitment/retreat!  For more information:  Danah Massey will be one chaperone representing SJTL; there is an especial need for a male chaperone to participate.  Please contact Danah Massey if you, or someone you know, can help.

Pop Tops!!!  St James the Less has a phenomenal start to this school year's saving of Pop Tops for the Richmond Ronald McDonald House!  Wow.  Please keep up the momentum.  Any pop top will do:  soup cans, soda cans, dog / cat food cans.  Keep 'em coming!  The Sunday School wants to deliver the best year ever to the Ronald McDonald House in memory of Charlotte Reynolds.

Fun Facts about Pop Top Donations:

•        In 2014, the Richmond Ronald McDonald House made just over $5,000 from recycling pop tops.

•        For each pound of pop tops, they receive approximately 55 cents

•        There are 1,267 pop tops in a pound. That means they recycled 11,517,030 pop tops.

Vestry Nominations   The SJTL Annual Meeting will be on Sunday, February 12, 2017, immediately following 10:00 church.  A new Vestry will be elected at that time.

Vestry nominating requirements
