NeverTheLess – July 17, 2016

Welcome to All, especially if you are visiting us today.  We are delighted to have you here.  Please join us for lemonade in the garden after 10:00 church.

High School Youth Mission   Today, our High School Youth Group embark on a mission to Tri-Cities Workcamp.  We will commission them and their leaders at 10:00 church and invite you to keep them in your prayers this week.

New Pictorial Directory Coming-To assist newcomers (particularly our new Priest) in matching names and faces, the Newcomers' Committee will be updating information for a new directory, to be published in-house on our current computer system.  If you already have a current photo of you and your family that you like, one that clearly shows faces, please email it to Margaret in the office ( to be inserted into the directory.  If you would like to get a new photo of you and your family, the next picture taking sessions will be on Sunday, July 24, between the services and following 10:00 church, in the rector's office.  At Information Central, we also have printed out the information we have for everyone – please check to see if what we have for you is correct and current.   We will be including a section in the directory for groups; if your group has an inclusive photo and you’d like to publish it, please forward that to Margaret as well.

Ushers Needed!  Summer is a popular time to “church shop” and one of the most important roles in being welcoming to visitors is our ushers.  Responsibilities include handing out bulletins and smiling!  Currently, we have openings for individual weeks in July and August.  Being an usher is not a difficult job, but it is vital to the worship experience on any Sunday morning.   Please sign up at Information Central or contact Rich Holt, 368.0609 or

SJTL CARITAS   Many, many thanks to all of the dedicated volunteers who contributed to the care and compassion shown our CARITAS guests this past week.

Peter Paul Development Center    The children of PPDC are given snacks to take home, snacks such as granola bars, fruit cups, cheese crackers, peanut butter crackers, raisins or other dried fruit, and other non-perishable finger foods.  If you'd like to contribute, there is a marked basket at Information Central.

Education for Ministry   To Everything a Season; Enroll for Fall EfM

If summer were a personality, it would be an extrovert. Come fall, and into winter and spring, a more "introverted" rhythm guides us through Advent and then Lent. Education for Ministry studies can complement this rhythm and create a valuable tenet of the spiritual discipline God calls us to. Preparation for an EfM seminar can take as little or as much time as one cares to give it. Two hours per week is reasonable. Then we will most likely meet on Monday evenings from 6-8, starting and ending on time as often as possible. This doesn't seem like too much time to give the questions "why am I here?" and "what would You have me do?"  Contact Stephanie Werner at or (804) 986-2953 to enroll in Year 1 of this academic study created by the University of the South/Sewanee. Enrich your spiritual practice, enlighten your perspective and reap the rewards of time spent with fellow faith seekers.

Vacation Bible School   AUGUST 15 - 18th from 5:30-7:30 pm.  Everyone is welcome.  VBS is a 3-day education program called “SURPRISE: Stories of Discovering Jesus”; the fourth night is an all-family dinner/fun night.  Jesus surprised the people he met.  Are you ready for your children to be surprised by Jesus?   The VBS educational program is designed for Pre-K - 5th Graders and we would love to have middle and senior high kids perform the dramas that are included with the program and to help with the children’s activities. And of course we need volunteers to make this a special experience for our children!  Questions?  Interested in participating?  Contact Jen Martin, .
