NeverTheLess – June 11, 2017

TODAY AND THIS WEEK

Welcome to All, especially if you are visiting us today.  We are delighted to have you here. Nametags are an outward symbol of radical hospitality.  We have new people in the church and an uptick in our visitors.  Wearing a nametag helps everyone!  If you don’t have one, please see an usher or a greeter for assistance.  If you are visiting, we also invite you to fill out a pew card and put it in the plate.

Thanks to Everyone   who participated in the car wash yesterday, whether you wrangled a hose, smooshed a sponge, or drove your spotty ride through the assembly line, we appreciate your contribution!

Graduating Seniors    Today we celebrate the milestone of Graduation and our amazing and talented High School Youth Group offers their annual worship service.

Parish Picnic!   Today, immediately after 10:00 church, join us for our annual parish picnic.  We’re providing the fried chicken and soft drinks.  All are welcome.

ALSO OF NOTE

Farewell to Joanne and Paul Robb   Joanne and Paul's last day with us will be Sunday, June 18.  Please join us following 10:00 church for cake and coffee to say thank you and goodbye to our church musicians.

St. James the Less is ever so grateful to Karlyn Yeager who has agreed to come out of retirement to be our interim organist. Karlyn has been a choir member since joining the church about five years ago, and has filled in for Paul from time to time. She started out playing the piano and learned the organ at age 16, when the organist at her Lutheran Church in Landsdowne, Maryland needed a sub while on vacation. She went on to play the organ for more than 50 years in a variety of churches, from Maryland to Colorado. She lives in Ashland with her daughter, son-in-law and their four children.

Calling Foodies and Money People   the Sunday worship experience, the heartbeat of our life together as a congregation, depends on the service of volunteers.  Summer, when attendance is often lighter, is an ideal time to try out a new activity.  Any committee would be happy to welcome you; there is, however, an especial need for help with Parish Life (receptions and food for special occasions), and for people to count the offering.  If you would like to contribute your talent to our volunteer pool, please contact Margaret in the office.

Backpacks Donations & Paper Grocery Bags Needed   We are still collecting $10 donations to replace backpacks for youngsters participating in Peter Paul Development Center’s flagship Youth Program.  Please make checks out to St. James the Less with a "SJTL Backpack Food Ministry" memo. The Food Ministry is also happy to collect your paper grocery bags. A bin for them is in the hallway outside the parish office.
