NeverTheLess – June 26, 2016

Welcome to All, especially if you are visiting us today.  We are delighted to have you here.  Please join us for lemonade in the garden after 10:00 church.

New Pictorial Directory Coming-To assist newcomers (particularly our new Priest) in matching names and faces, the Newcomers' Committee will be taking pictures and updating information for a new directory, to be published in-house on our current computer system.  Our photographer, Dick Shirey, will be taking photos at 9 a.m. and immediately following the 10:00 service TODAY.   There will be a make-up date scheduled, but we want to have the directory completed over the summer.  Two photos will be taken of each person or family for you to select your preference.  Photos will be taken in the Rector’s Office.  If you already have a current photo of you and your family that you like, one that clearly shows faces, please feel free to email it to Margaret in the office ( and we’ll use that.  Do please stop by to check the accuracy of your information in the printed directory.  We’re using this as an opportunity to get our directory as clean and informative as possible!

Ushers Needed!  Summer is a popular time to “church shop” and one of the most important roles in being welcoming to visitors is our ushers.  Responsibilities include handing out bulletins and smiling!  Currently, we have openings for much of July and all of August.  Being an usher is not a difficult job, but it is vital to the worship experience on any Sunday morning.   If you can help, please sign up at Information Central or contact Rich Holt, 368.0609 or

Red Hats and ROMEO's    both groups are getting together this Tuesday, June 28th, at 11:30 am.  ROMEO’s will be at Trackside.  Red Hats meet at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden.

Vacation Bible School   AUGUST 15 - 18th from 5:30-7:30 pm.  VBS is a 3-day education program called “SURPRISE: Stories of Discovering Jesus”; the fourth night is an all-family dinner/fun night.  Jesus surprised the people he met.  Are you ready for your children to be surprised by Jesus?   Everyone is welcome.  The VBS educational program is designed for Pre-K - 5th Graders and we would love to have middle and senior high kids perform the dramas that are included with the program and to help with the children’s activities. And of course we need volunteers to make this a special experience for our children!  Questions?  Interested in participating?  Contact Jen Martin, .

SJTL CARITAS Week July 9-16:   This year St. James the Less will host our ~40 CARITAS men the week of July 9 - 16.  Volunteers are needed as overnight chaperones, transportation drivers and helpers to shuttle our guests, and liaisons supporting neighboring churches with navigating the church.   If you’d like more information, or to volunteer, please contact Erik Helsley at (434) 760-1111 or   Sign-up sheets are at Information Central.

Seeking CARITAS Donations:  In the hallway is a donation station for CARITAS.   We need gently used (or new) pillowcases, towels, and washcloths for the guests’ use during their stay.  Also, we are accepting donations of travel size soaps, lotions, deodorants, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoos, and conditioners (no mouthwash, please.).

Peter Paul Development Center    The end of the school year also brings to a close the PPDC after school program, and that also means the children in the center do not get dinner.  They will be given snacks to take home, snacks such as granola bars, fruit cups, cheese crackers, peanut butter crackers, raisins or other dried fruit, and other non-perishable finger foods.  If you'd like to contribute, there is a marked basket at Information Central.
