NeverTheLess – March 5, 2017

TODAY AND THIS WEEK

Welcome to All, especially if you are visiting us today.  We are delighted to have you here. We invite everyone to wear a nametag.  If you don’t have one, please see an usher or a greeter for assistance.

Today is the First Sunday in Lent   Lent is a time we can be still and reflective. It is a time we can spend with God.  On Sunday mornings and Tuesday evenings through Lent, starting today, Anna is offering workshops in active creative spiritual practices.  Today at 9:00 a.m., and again Tuesday at 6:00 p.m., this week’s workshop will focus on mandalas.  The word "mandala" comes to us from Sanskrit and it loosely translates to mean "circle."  A mandala is far more than a simple shape. It represents wholeness, a cosmic diagram that reminds us of our relation to the infinite.  The mandala appears in all aspects of life: the celestial circles we call earth, sun, and moon, as well as conceptual circles of friends, family, and community.  All are welcome.

COMING UP

Daylight Saving Time   next Sunday, March 12, in the wee small hours we will lose an hour of sleep; or, later in the day we will gain an hour of daylight – sorta depends on your perspective, doesn’t it?!  Please remember to set your clocks ahead one hour before going to bed, or you will be late for worship on Sunday!

DIOCESAN NEWS

Region XI   St. James the Less needs a representative for the quarterly Region XI meetings.  If you would like to know more, or to volunteer, please speak with Anna.

OUTREACH

What’s All the Hype About Pop Tops?  St James the Less continues to collect Pop Tops for the Richmond Ronald McDonald House.  Please keep up the momentum.  Any pop top will do:  soup cans, soda cans, dog / cat food cans ...  Keep 'em coming!  The Sunday School wants to deliver the best year ever to the Ronald McDonald House in memory of Charlotte Reynolds.

PARISH OFFICE INFORMATION

News Deadline   if you have committee news to be shared with the parish via our weekly e-newsletter or this NeverTheLess, please get that information to Margaret in the office by noon on Tuesday.

Scheduling Reminder:  Anna is usually off and out of the office on Fridays and Saturdays.  If you have a pastoral emergency on one of those days or during the evening, please call the rectory's landline:  (804) 299.3730.  If she is not there, please leave a message.  You may also contact the Senior Warden who will be in touch with her directly.  As well, Anna does not have access to her church email off-site, so if you email her after about 5:00 on Thursdays, she will not get that email until Sunday morning at the earliest, and possibly, not until Monday, depending on her Sunday schedule.
