Advent Fair   is today, November 20, after 10 am church.  Please join us in Brydon Hall for Advent wreath making, crafts for kids to take home, and a shopping opportunity for all children.  We are offering a chance for children to pick out a gift for parents and wrap it on the spot. Everyone is invited!

Brunswick Stew Sale!   If you ordered Brunswick stew, today is your last opportunity to pick up your order.   Come to Brydon Hall, near the kitchen.

Special scheduling notice:  the parish offices will close at 12:30pm on Wednesday, Nov. 23 and remain closed through the Friday, Nov. 25, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

LARCUM Conference  St. James the Less, at the invitation of Bp. Ted Gulick, is participating in the annual LARCUM (that stands for Lutheran, Anglican, Roman Catholic, and United Methodist) Conference on December 2-3.  Registration information is available at Information central.  All are welcome.

Ashland Open Door Thanksgiving Celebration    Ashland Open Door is hosting a community Thanksgiving Celebration on TODAY, 5:00 pm, at Hanover Academy, 117 Frances Rd., Ashland.   St. James the Less is one of the hosts, and we have been asked to provide pies or desserts and/or a vegetable tray for approximately 30 guests.  Janet Taylor is coordinating our offerings for this community celebration - please call her, 221.9490, to find out how you can best help.

One of the ministries we do best is outreach.  ACES and PPDC have both reached out to us with specific item requests that will help them serve their constituents more effectively.

ACES requests men's gently used shoes and work boots, especially size 10 or larger; adults underwear and thermal underwear; and women's socks (all new items, please).  Also children's size clothing, especially boys' underwear.  Toiletries are always welcome.  And some household items, pots and pans, queen sheet sets, and can openers.

PPDC is getting ready to help their constituents with Thanksgiving, and asks our help in providing the non-perishable traditional foods of the holiday.  They offer these suggestions:  boxed or bagged stuffing; canned pumpkin; evaporated milk; canned cranberries; canned sweet potatoes; canned ham; boxed dessert mixes; and disposable roasting pans. They would also be happy to accept gift cards for turkey.

High School Youth Group Mission – Tri-cities Workcamp   The Tri-Cities Workcamp 2017 info has arrived!  There is no more waiting until Jan 2nd to register, we can register starting now!  Keeping with tradition, SJTL High Schoolers attend the JULY 16 – 22 (2nd week) of camp.  This is a FULL week commitment/retreat!  For more information:  Dan and Danah Massey will be the chaperones representing SJTL.

Vestry Nominations   The SJTL Annual Meeting will be on Sunday, February 12, 2017, immediately following 10:00 church.  A new Vestry will be elected at that time.

Vestry nominating requirements

Deciding who to nominate to serve on the vestry is not done lightly. It is a process of discernment. The nominating committee listened for the Spirit to guide them in their choice of candidates who have the spiritual gifts to serve the parish in this ministry at this time.
