NeverTheLess – November 26, 2017

Welcome To All, especially if you are visiting us today. We are delighted to have you here. Nametags are an outward symbol of radical hospitality.  If you don’t have one, please see an usher or a greeter for assistance.  If you are visiting, we also invite you to fill out a pew card and put it in the plate.

Contemplative Service, TODAY at 5 pm   Come wind down your weekend with a quiet, contemplative service of music and prayers.  All are welcome.

Advent Fair   Sunday, December 3, immediately after 10:00 church, we will gather in Brydon Hall to get ready. We will once again have a station where the kids can "shop" for a gift for their parents.  There is a box in the hallway to collect your donations of gifts.  On the day of the Fair, younger children will be matched with a middle schooler to help them through the process.  Wrapping is included!  Come spend a joy-full time preparing for this season of beauty and light!

Advent Class – “Christmas Stories”   Come join with Father Rock as we gather to read and discuss fictional stories to help get our minds and hearts prepared for Christmas. We will have some coffee and cocoa, gather in the library, and read seasonal tales both known and new. Hope you can join us!  Wednesdays, Dec. 6, 13, and 20, at 11 am.

Inquirers' Class Wednesdays    Have you ever thought of becoming a member of St. James the Less, or have you wanted to be confirmed? Father Rock is leading an Inquirers' Class for those who wish to officially be a part of St. James the Less and the Episcopal Church, Wednesdays at 7 pm, and will resume the week after Thanksgiving.  The class is in 4 parts, and will be in preparation for the Bishop's visit on the morning of December 24.  Teens in High School through adults of any age can participate.  Please contact Father Rock if you have any questions.

Bible Study/Adult Formation    Come join us in Adult Bible Study — 8:45 in the rectory.  Learn something about Abraham, Sarah, Hagar, and perhaps even yourself.  We are part of an old, old story.  Whether or not you have heard it before, you know it.  All are welcome!

Stewardship update:

  • Thanks to all who have pledged so generously already. We have received 101 pledges out of  200 pledge cards sent for a current total of $314,500.  These generous pledges include 16 new and 34 increased pledges.  This is a most encouraging result, thank you so much. Also, heartfelt thanks to those who routinely give generously without pledging.
  • For those of you who have not yet pledged, we encourage you to pray and consider offering your Pledge during this Season of Thanks just ahead. We have both the Thanksgiving Holiday; and the Holy Season of Christmas for God's gift to us, the gift of  His Son and our Savior Jesus Christ.

Seamstresses!   The vestments that the St. Cecilia Choir children wear are the same cassocks many of you and/or your children wore. They are rather tight through the neck and shoulders and the robes can't be let out. We are exploring the possibility of having 12 new robes made, along with extras for potential new children joining the choir. If any of you are proficient at sewing new robes, please contact Joanne Robb at

Peter Paul Development Center   we are “adopting” a family to help them with Christmas.  You’ll find boxes at Information Central, and bios of the children with ages, sizes, and wish lists for your donations.  Please bring your unwrapped gifts by December 10.
