NeverTheLess – October 7, 2018

Welcome To All, especially if you are visiting us today. We are delighted to have you here.  If you are visiting, we invite you to fill out a pew card and put it in the plate.

St. Cecilia Choir Resumes     If your children love to sing, the St. Cecilia Choir is starting back up, Thursdays at 4:45 pm.  Open to 1st graders through 5th grade, no audition necessary.

Singing Choir and Handbells, too.  If you like to sing, or ring a bell, the grown up choirs are accepting new folks, too.  Contact Pam James for more information.

Fur and Fin and Feather and at 5:30 pm, bring your beloved pet(s) (or a picture, if they are skittish) for a blessing.

Good Work: The Center for Elder Spirituality    Begin thinking about where your growing edge might be. Among our offerings for October will be a book discussion group on issues of aging as a spiritual process (convened by Beth Harrison), a workshop on non-violent communication (led by Julie Ericksen), a workshop on journaling (led by Phyllis Theroux), a weekly exploration of dreamwork (led by Bill Harrison), a course on the life and teachings of Jesus, which might work for those whose Sundays are crowded with other responsibilities (led by Beth Harrison), creative explorations in art, a movie night (Quartet is the first in this series), and many other offerings.  Cathy Cawley, an experienced retreat leader, will facilitate workshops on centering prayer and Lectio Divina.  We will begin a meditation group. We will have sessions on telling our stories, and following that process, Sandy Shirey will lead a workshop on planning our funerals. The invitation to this spiritual feast will be sent out next week. What speaks to your soul right now?  What food do you need for the journey?  Please contact Beth Harrison with your questions and ideas.

Welcome Newcomers!  You're Invited to Lunch!   If you've been coming to St. James the Less for only a short time (and you get to define that!), please join us next Sunday, October 14 at 11:30 in the Rectory for lunch and fellowship with other newcomers, Father Rock, and our Welcome Committee.  Children are welcome.

It will take our whole village to show them care and give them a great week.  You will find sign-up sheets at Information Central for opportunities to Volunteer your time, Donate, and/or Loan items to make our guests feel welcome. Sign up on the sheets, or contact Dani Stockwell, 798.6548

Office Volunteers   We are seeking to expand our roster of folks who are able to help out in the office during staff meetings and/or when Margaret is out of the office.  If you have an hour or so on a Wednesday morning or a free morning when Margaret is out (there will be lots of notice for such an event), please contact Margaret, 798.6336.

Wednesday Morning Read   Wednesdays at 11 am, join us in the library to read together and discuss Watership Down by Richard Adams.  This is an older book that can most likely be found at the local library or your favorite used book store.
