NeverTheLess – September 1, 2019

Welcome To All, especially if you are visiting us today. We are delighted to have you here.  If you are visiting, we invite you to fill out a pew card and put it in the plate.

Parish Picnic   next Sunday, September 8, right after our 10:00 worship, gather in the yard for our annual welcome back picnic.  We’ll provide the chicken and beverages; you bring your favorite dish to share.

Directory Photos, Part 2   during the picnic, our favorite local photographers, Susan Hubbard and Dick Shirey, will be taking pictures for us to update our directory.  Especially if you weren’t able to be here for the June picnic, please find them if they don’t find you.  The pictorial directory is an element of radical hospitality and we have several new folks in the parish and in the offices.

Pens, and Pew Racks, and … we try to keep pens easily accessible near the pew cards, to make life easier for our visitors.  Unfortunately, they usually tumble to the bottom of the racks and no one, especially our visitors, have no idea they are there.  Toilet paper rolls fit neatly in the corners of the pew racks and will hold the pens upright!  If you think of it, please bring in your toilet paper rolls as they become available.  Ultimately, we’ll need ~100 at any given time.  Leave them on Margaret’s desk in the office.

Duncan Memorial Invites You   to a Hymn Sing on Saturday, September 28, 3 PM.  Join the Randolph-Macon and Ashland Communities for an afternoon of singing and celebrating.  Special performances also offered by area choirs and RMC’s InTONEnation.  A reception will follow the performance.  The program offering will be donated to ACES.

Ashland Christian Emergency Center (ACES)   we have a bin in the hallway dedicated to donations to ACES; pinned up above the bin is a current list of items ACES folks need most.  Also, ACES is recruiting drivers for Hanover Senior Rides, a volunteer transportation program for seniors.  If you’d like to know more, please call (804) 543.6115.

Hanover Safe Place   is asking for school supplies for the children of their clients.  There is a marked box in the hallway outside the office if you’d like to contribute.  Hanover Safe Place will retrieve the box and its contents during the week of August 25.  Thank you for your generous hearts.
